Polo on ice starts today!

St. Moritz, 24 January 2013 – The world’s most famous polo tournament on snow starts today. For four days, St. Moritz will be transformed into a hot spot for polo fans and enthusiasts of equestrianism from around the globe. On the round robin principle, the four high-goal teams Cartier, Ralph Lauren, Sal. Oppenheim and BMW first play every other team on the frozen Lake St. Moritz. During the final game on Sunday, 27 January 2013, they will then be playing for the coveted Cartier Trophy.

Spectators at this year’s St. Moritz Polo World Cup on Snow can look forward to some highly competitive games by the four polo teams, Cartier, Ralph Lauren, BMW, and Deutsche Bank with their team Sal. Oppenheim, which are all competing with an 18-goal handicap, collecting valuable points for the Wold Polo Tour. On the round robin principle, each team first plays every other team. The tournament then climaxes with the third-place play-off and the final on Sunday. During the last game on Sunday, at 2.00 p.m., the finalists will be competing for first place and the Cartier Trophy. “Due to the equal handicaps, the teams promise exciting games at the highest level,” explains Bernhard Pöllinger, Head of Sports & Infrastructure at St. Moritz Polo Corporation, with anticipation.
