Goose Creek Gallops past Jan Pamela 9-5

By Alex Webbe

Goose Creek charged out to an early 3-0 lead on a pair of goals from Tano Vial and a goal from Cote Zegers in the first chukker of a 9-5 win over Jan Pamela in a Sawgrass Challenge consolation match at the International Polo Club in Wellington Friday afternoon while holding Jan Pamela scoreless.

Maureen Brennan and Zegers added single goals in the second chukker for a 5-0 Goose Creek lead before Jan Pamela responded. Steve Dalton scored two goals from the field as Jan Pamela cut the Goose Creek to three goals, 5-2.

Goose Creek’s Agustin Arellano scored the only goal of the third chukker as Jan Pamela continued to struggle with its offense. At the end of the first half Goose Creek rode off the field with a four goal, 6-2 lead.

Wayne Garrison opened the second half of play with a goal from the field, but that would be the totality of any offensive thrust. Goose Creek continued to lead, 6-3.

Brennan converted a penalty shot for a goal in the fifth with Valerio Zubiaurre countering for Jan Pamela with his first goal of the match. After five chukkers of play, Goose Creek held a three goal advantage, 7-4.

Dalton’s third goal of the day cut the Goose Creek to two goals as he scored for the third time, but Goose Creek wasn’t done yet. Vial and Zegers each added a goal to give Goose Creek the final four goal margin of victory, 9-5.

Vial and Zegers each scored three goals for Goose Creek. Brennan added two goals and Arellano scored once in the win.

Dalton led the Jan Pamela attack with three goals. Garrison and Zubiaurre each scored a goal.
